Already in 1880 Jakob Teufelberger at young age od 21 started to make hemp ropes for farmers. Later, the company moved to larger premises on the outskirts of Wels. In 1917 was produced the first steel rope. First steel ropes were produced up to 8 mm. In production, hemp was replaced by the synthetic fibers that were supposed to be a revolution in climbing.
